Hello, I'm Maria,
I have been a natural traveler since birth. Living in new cities has always brought me joy and discovering the history and culture behind each city fascinates me. It’s a strong part of who I am today. Having lived in Spain as a teenager and in my adult life for four years, Spain is a country that I will always return to and feel at home.
I've built things from scratch before. A children's clothing line in Seattle, and a career in fashion and visual communication that took me from studio to studio across New York City and London. I learned how to design collections, work with textiles in a production room, work on runway shows for NY fashion week, pick last-minute fabric samples, and how to make something look effortless when it wasn't. What I didn't learn, not for a long time, was how to slow down and embrace calm moments.
None of that prepared me for the quieter parts of life. A cloudy afternoon with nowhere to be. A cup of Earl Grey going cold because I got lost in a book. An old bookshop with no particular plan for what I'd find inside, just the pleasure of looking. It took me longer to learn how to value those moments, and when I finally did, I realized that balance is key.
That's where Slow Sparkles Co. began, not from having everything figured out, but from finally learning to hold both sides at once.
