Create your Slow Sparkles Simple Daily Routine

When I was working in the fashion industry in New York City, one of the first jobs that I had was during New York Fashion Week and the designer that I was working for was preparing for their runway show. Each day was filled with various tasks; running around the city picking up garments from manufacturers, looking for last-minute fabric samples, dropping off garments to magazine publications, helping with sewing beading on some of the runway dresses, and more. We stayed at the office until after hours, and often the designer would order food for us. I thought to myself, “this is what you need to do to become successful”. Work all day and night, until you get it all done. Fast forward a couple years later, when I was working on my clothing brand as a new Mom, I would stay up all night after my son fell asleep and work on my clothing pieces, sewing all night until 5am. I thought to myself the same words as when I was interning in NYC. This mindset eventually led to burnout and panic attacks from not taking care of my mind or body.

I believe that our health comes first before anything, and I eventually developed the mindset that our state of mind and overall well-being is a priority. To produce excellent work or to produce new creations, our minds and bodies need to be nourished first. As life is always unpredictable, establishing a routine that allows us to focus on self-care can be difficult. However, if one has a baseline of what their dream ideal morning or evening routine would be, they can choose simple activities that bring them back to themselves, to balance out their day.
